SYNOPSIS

Celebrating Offenbach's 200th Anniversary. "Offenbach began something which later developed through Johann Strauss, Lehar, Kalman, Abraham into the Broadway musical of the 20th Century. All of this can be traced back to one man: Jacques Offenbach”, says Barrie Kosky, the stage director of this year’s highly acclaimed Salzburg “Orphée aux enfers”. He is joined by Dame Felicity Lott, Laurent Pelly and many other artists in celebrating Offenbach´s 200th anniversary in Reiner E. Moritz’ documentary. Clips and early photographs illustrate the many facets of the composer’s genius.

Also available: A new recording of Offenbach's Bluebeard from Lyon Opera House directed for the stahe by Laurent Pelly, conducted by Michele Spotti and and starring Yann Beuron, Heloise Mas and others.
